Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product typically made of cellulosic fibers combined with a synthetic resin or other suitable bonding material and joined together using heat and pressure. The surface of MDF is consistently flat, smooth, uniform, dense and free of knots and grain patterns. The consistent density profile of MDF allows for intricate and precise machining and finishing techniques for superior finished products. MDF is the material of choice for home interiors where tight tolerances, smooth surfaces and complex machining are critical.

MDF is Widely Used In:

  • Furniture
  • Kitchen Cabinets
  • Door Parts
  • Moulding
  • Millwork
  • Laminate Flooring

MDF Brands We Carry:

  • West Fraser (Ranger and Westpine)

Particleboard

Particle board, also known as chipboard, is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood chips, sawmill shavings, and even sawdust. The wood material is combined with a resin, glue or other suitable binding agent, then compressed and extruded. The resulting product has a uniform density, is easy to cut, rout, shape and drill, and causes minimal wear on tools. Particleboard is valued for being substantially less expensive than alternative wood products.

Particleboard is Widely Used In:

  • Kitchen Cabinets

  • Door Core
  • Manufactured Home Decking
  • Stair Treads
  • Floor Underlayment
  • Office and Residential Furniture
  • Countertops

Slatwall

Slatwall, also called slotwall, is a building material used as a wall covering and for holding display fixtures. Slatwall typically comes in panels that are 4 ft. by 8 ft. and is made with horizontal grooves that are configured to store a variety of merchandise and accessories. Slatwall panels are usually made from medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and are often finished with materials such as melamine paper that is pressed or laminated onto one or both sides. Grooves are then machined into the board, and the board is then painted and fitted with plastic or aluminum inserts or fixtures.

Slatwall is Widely Used In:
